- Getting Cases Started on Time: One Southern California
surgical services department was having trouble getting its cases started
on time. After performing
an operational assessment, Alpha Consulting Group, Inc., prioritized
a number of recommendations. The highest priority at this hospital
was to reorganize the supplies and equipment to make it easier to find
things
in the department and to develop a location code system for all items.
We worked with their suppliers to get the carts and shelving needed,
and with members of the department to make sure that everyone agreed
on the new locations. We also assisted in getting the location code system
established for entry into the computer system. Today, supplies are flowing
smoothly and getting to their destination on time.
