Paul Wafer, RN, BS, MBA, founder of Alpha Consulting Group Inc., has nearly 30 years of healthcare experience that encompasses all aspects of hospital operations. From his early days in the operating room as a registered nurse, he moved into hospital-wide leadership positions that included Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Business Development, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.

With surgical services as his RN specialty, Paul has led both large and small surgery programs. He also has extensive consulting and facility turn-around experience.

During his professional career, Paul has:

• Improved operational performance through improved productivity.
• Established and implemented performance improvement programs to meet National Patient Safety Goals.
• Developed competency-based orientation modules.
• Led an initiative to standardize implantables and biologicals.
• Facilitated pre-admission process teams.
• Coordinated surgical expansion projects.
• Implemented procedure-based case cart systems.
• Assisted in the conversion and implementation of new surgery scheduling systems.
• Assisted in the conversion and implementation of major products within the operating room.
• Chaired product standardization teams/committees.
• Directed and improved the processes of several sterile processing departments that supported up to 22,000 procedures annually.
• Established and implemented Perioperative training programs.
• Managed and motivated large multi-national and multi-cultural workforces.
• Converted several Perioperative departments to a philosophy of continuous readiness for JCAHO survey.

Paul completed his bachelor’s degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and his master’s degree in business at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. He has the background and expertise to assume responsibility for managing all functions within surgical services and personally supervises all of Alpha Consulting Group’s interim directors and senior management consultants.
